SESAR 2020

Participation in the SESAR Research and Innovation Programme 2020


Seeking for its vision to become the most competitive air navigation service provider in the Baltic Sea Region which is creating, developing, and deploying innovative aviation solutions, SE Oro navigacija participates in the SESAR 2020 Research and Innovation Programme which is developing the next generation of European Air Traffic Management (ATM). This Programme aims to improve European ATM Network performance by modernising and harmonising ATM systems through the definition, development, validation and deployment of innovative technological and operational ATM solutions. Modernization of Europe’s air traffic management system will deliver benefits to Europe and its citizens.

The SESAR 2020 Research and Innovation Programme is managed by the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU), which manages the current SESAR Programme. The governance of the SJU is ensured by the Executive Director and Administrative Board, which is composed of the SESAR founding members, equipment manufacturers, civil and military airspace users, airports, and air navigation service providers, staff associations and the scientific community. In 2016, B4 Consortium, to which belongs SE Oro navigacija, became a formal member of SJU.

The whole B4 Consortium comprising of four ANSPs from Central and Eastern Europe (SE Oro navigacija (Lithuania), PANSA (Poland), ANS CR (Czech Republic), and LPS (Slovakia)) participates in 18 Industrial Research, Transversal and Very Large Scale Validation Projects of the SESAR 2020 Programme with financial contribution at the level of around 9,5 M€. SE Oro navigacija as a member of B4 Consortium has an opportunity to participate in the following Industrial Research and Transversal projects of the SESAR 2020 Programme:

   • PJ.05 Remote Tower – Remote Tower for Multiple Airports (Grant Agreement number: 730195)
   • PJ.06 ToBeFREE – Trajectory based Free Routing (Grant Agreement number: 734129)
   • PJ.14 EECNS – Essential and Efficient Communication Navigation and Surveillance Integrated System
     (Grant Agreement number: 734168)
   • PJ.19 CI – Content Integration (Grant Agreement number: 731765)
   • PJ.20 AMPLE – Master Plan Maintenance (Grant Agreement number: 733018)
   • PJ.22 SEabird – Validation and Demonstration Engineering (Grant Agreement number: 734165)

SE Oro navigacija as a participant of SESAR 2020 Programme will contribute to the conceptualisation of a vision for the future European ATM system, to the development of a Long Term European ATM system roadmap and to the preparation of the next edition of the European Air Traffic Management Master Plan which is the main planning document, which defines ATM modernisation priorities. Participation of SE Oro navigacija in SESAR 2020 Programme will bring an important knowledge and experience to SE Oro navigacija as well as to Lithuania’s aviation sector.
European Support to Oro navigacija’s Projects.

SE “Oro navigacija” and PANSA will manage their airspace with a new generation iTEC system

On Tuesday, 26 July 2016, Magdalena Jaworska and Algimantas Raščius, heads of air navigation services providers PANSA and SE “Oro navigacija”, signed contracts with Rafael Gallego, Director General of the Spanish company INDRA SISTEMAS S. A. for the deployment of the iTEC last-generation air traffic management system.

These contracts are the first steps for the both air navigation services (ANS) providers to join the iTEC Alliance, which already encompasses DFS (Germany), ENAIRE (Spain), NATS (U.K.), LVNL (The Netherlands) and AVINOR (Norway).

The ceremony took place in Warsaw, with the presence of honourable gests of the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction and Agustín Núñez, Spanish ambassador to Poland.
